Schering España SA is an international company involved in the marketing of pharmaceutical products in Spain. The company was established and incorporated in December of 1924. The registered head office of the company is located in Madrid, Spain. Schering España is also engaged in the wholesale trade of prescription medicines for diagnostic imaging (X-ray contrast media, contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging, application technologies for contrast agents); hematology/cardiology (blood-clotting agents, thromboembolic diseases); oncology (products for treating leukemias and lymphomas, drugs for solid-tumor therapy); primary care (anti-infectives, men's healthcare, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases); specialized therapeutics (drugs for treating diseases of the central nervous system); and for women's healthcare (contraception, menopause management, gynecological therapies). The company is a wholly-owned Spanish subsidiary of Bayer Schering Pharma AG, a publicly quoted research-based pharmaceutical company which was incorporated in 1900 and was formerly known as Schering AG as a result of the take over of Bayer AG in 2006. Bayer AG is a German chemical and pharmaceutical company founded in Barmen, Germany in 1863 and headquartered in Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, in Germany.
