The institution operates as a co-educational independent school which provides a British education for children aged three to eighteen in Madrid, Spain. The school was established in 1969. The school offers a wide range of learning opportunities to all its students in academic, social, cultural and sporting activities, in order to encourage all its students to realise their full potential, to recognise and appreciate excellence, to develop reasoned attitudes, values and beliefs, to respect other races, religions and cultures, to seek success and to accept for themselves the highest standards of work and behaviour. It provides a broad balanced curriculum based on the requirements of the British National Curriculum. In addition, full attention and respect are given to the learning of Spanish Language and Literature, Spanish Social Studies, traditions and culture. The school's pupils range from Nursery (Age 3) to Year 13 (Age 18). The school's ultimate goal is to empower students with the knowledge, skills, self-respect, independence and self motivation necessary to be ready to accept the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life and to play a full and active role within society. The school is a member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS) and is inspected by this body as well as by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
