The company is engaged in the manufacture and supply of nuclear components and nuclear services. It is a world leader in nuclear components and nuclear services supply. The company was created in 1973 to design, build and operate an industrial plant to undertake the manufacturing of primary components of Nuclear Steam Supply Systems of reactors of any type. It started to operate at the end of 1976. The registered had office of the company is located in Madrid, Spain. The company's production plant is located in Maliaño (Cantabria), on the northern coast of Spain. It created a service division in 1980 which specializes in site repairs, modifications, retrofits, special installation work, etc. The company also entered the radwaste market during the eighties and is now active in the waste treatment and conditioning area, the supply of spent fuel storage and transport elements, and the new market of decommissioning and dismantling nuclear and radioactive facilities. It specializes in the production of heavy components (including reactor pressure vessels, steam generators, pressurizers and core structures, among others) for nuclear plants and industrial facilities. The company's main product line is that of heavy components of the Nuclear Steam Supply System of nuclear reactors. It is a wholly owned company of the Industrial holding Sociedad Española de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI), a Spanish organization created in 1996 in replacement of the National Institute of Industry (INI).
