This privately owned company is engaged in solar electric systems engineering, procurement and construction. The company was set up in August of 2006 and is based in Spain. Its registered business office is located in the city of Madrid. From this location, the company handles services for utility-scale power plants as well as residential and commercial customers. Its high-efficiency solar cells and solar panels generate up to 50 percent more power than conventional solar technologies and have a uniquely attractive, all-black appearance. In December of 2007, the company designed and constructed a solar photovoltaic plant representing a total of approximately 8.3 megawatts peak power in the Extremadura region of Spain. The company is a subsidiary of the American-based SunPower Corporation, which designs, manufactures and delivers high-performance solar electric systems worldwide for residential, commercial and utility-scale power plant customers. With headquarters in San Jose, California, the latter maintains presence in North America, Europe and Asia.
