The company, with registered office in Madrid, Spain, is an international tobacco firm engaged in the manufacture, marketing and sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products. It markets its products with brands sold in 180 markets around the world. In April 2005, the company sold its Benson & Hedges and Silk Cut trademarks in Malta and Cyprus. Its associate companies have 14 cigarette factories in seven countries producing some 232 billion cigarettes. It has more 300 brands in its portfolio, including such brands as Kent, Dunhill, Lucky Strike, Pall Mall, Vogue, Viceroy, Rothmans, Kool, Benson & Hedges, State Express 555, Peter Stuyvesant and John Player Gold Leaf. The company is committed to embedding the principles of corporate social responsibility Group-wide. It was established to trade outside both the UK and the USA, and grew from its roots in dozens of countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and continental Europe. The company was incorporated in March of 1990 and registered as a private company in Spain.
