Development of building projects
The company is primarily engaged in the development of penitentiary centers equipped with innovative technologies, materials and equipment. It was created in 1992 with the aim of constructing and fit-up Penitentiary Centres to comply with the Ley General Penitenciaria (Spanish General Penitentiary Act). The company has a registered office located in Madrid, Spain. The company's activities are not only on the development of penitentiary centres, but also of social rehabilitation centers, center for mother inmates, hospital custody units, and the restoration and reforms in centres. The company, with the creation of a new penitentiary infrastructure, finds and obtains a land. It carries out the planning application and environmental processes needed, coordinates and runs the detailed design and engineering of all the projects, manages and supervises the works, designs the equipment and controls its installation, and delivers the turnkey infrastructure to the Spanish Penitentiary Administration. The company has provided the Administración Penitenciaria Española (Spanish Penitentiary Administration) with an approximately 21,102 cells in 20 centers and eight social rehabilitation centers. It has built 24 hospital custody units and closed 323 dossiers to perform improvement works in new centers. Other development and projects done by the company include the works on four of the main Standard Penitentiary Centres: Puerto III, Albocàsser, Morón de la Frontera, and Estremera; the restoration and reform works in the centres of El Dueso and Arrecife and the restoration project for La Isleta; and the restoration and reform works in the Hospital Custody Unit of the Hospital Juan Canalejo in A Coruña and in the Hospital Universitario de Palma de Mallorca.
