USP Hospitales S.A. is a Spanish company primarily engaged in the management and administration of hospitals. The company, with headquarters located in Madrid, Spain, was founded in 1998 by Gabriel Masfurroll, the company's Chairman and Managing Director. USP Hospitales is Spain's leading hospital group with a network of 32 healthcare centres with approximately 3,000 employees, 2,500 doctors and sees more than one and half million patients a year. The company has operating establishments in the cities of Adeje, Badalona, Barcelona, El Ferrol, Gerona, La Coruña, Madrid, Marbella, Murcia, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santiago del Teide, Sevilla, Tarragona, Torrevieja and Vitoria. In addition, it manages 6 hospitals in Portugal, located in Lisbon, Oporto, Sangalhos, Lagos and Faro. USP Hospitales offers all types of specialist medical care through its centres, in particular: gynecology, reproductive medicine (pioneers of IVF in Spain) and obstetrics, traumatology, general surgery, internal medicine, plastic surgery, and other specialties such as neurosurgery, and cardiology among others. USP Hospitales is a private, integrated network offering a whole range of services from hospitals to day surgery centres, diagnostic centres and polyclinics. It has consolidated its position as market leader for the provision of healthcare services under the umbrella of its own brand, which is recognised, as offering a top-quality healthcare services alternative with state-of-the-art technology and rigorous professional ethics. In July 2004, the Spanish management of USP Hospitals, in collaboration with the American head office, USP International, signed a strategic alliance with the Spanish investment fund, Mercapital which is the country's leader in risk capital investment. The objective of the alliance was to consolidate USP Hospitals as the leading private hospital chain in Europe. USP Hospitales' objective is to convert the hospital into an IP (Information Processing) reference centre on a European level.
